The Rulers entered the studio on Friday, 10/25. The production of the Uptown Magic started with Karoly laying down the drum parts. I'll give Karoly credit, that brother has patience. He was behind the drum kit for about six hours straight the first day. The drums are a physical instrument. Halfway through the process, I would have declared that the drums suck and I wanted a flute just from sheer exhaustion.
That smile on his face is not from joy, but from delerium. It's a smile that says, "Come one step closer with that camera and I'll gouge out your eyes and eat your children," or come to think of it, I might be confusing that look with, "I'm hungry." (he uses both looks often.) Either way, our man carried on and the Uptown rhythm was dispatched.
